I picked none.
Flames do not need Raymond they have to many wingers as is.
Av's will want D back for Stastny. Flames don't have any to give.
Blues can probably get a late first for Stewart. Flames can not give up a first. |

What about Grabovski?
Grabovski would be good on a 1yr/3.5 or 2 year 7mil. - zazzle

Raymond won't help your team. Going after stastny would be a great idea. Then look at Desharnais in MTL, not much room for him after this season, he should be cheap. |

There arent (too) many players on the roster who I would say are untouchables. Glencross is certainly a guy they would like to keep around, however could be moved in a package where defensive or centre depth came back our way. |

After the NYI gave up Nino in the Clutterbuck trade I doubt he's available at a realistic price.
And if Chris Stewart does become available the price will be sky high since many teams will likely have serious interest and I could see St.Louis maybe giving Petro a one year deal and verbally agreeing to a longer, more expensive extension for next year as a way to get around the cap for this season.
Raymond to Calgary has been rumored and speculated about quite a bit, I'm sure both the Flames and Raymond have even heard of it so if it hasn't happened yet I'm not sure that it will unless both sides are just playing hardball in negotiations.
I agree with the above that Grabovski seems like a good fit for Calgary. |

I was thinking along the lines of Ryan before he got traded. I could see them going after Vanek. 29 yrs old and fills that superstar need. Remember they have the cap room but do they want to pay the price?
Couturier from philly would also be targeted, they've said has not going anywhere but reality dictates something has to give there, especially Coburn.
Columbus is pretty high right now and a Jack Johnson type D might be in play to someone.
I think the Flamesd will wait until all contracts are signed and see who is under pressure to move a salary.
I don't see them taking any long term more than 3 year UFA's right now. |

Well said - I listed Stewart as I feel many teams will be interesting in him and he brings a certain dynamic to a team which Feaster likes in his players (among other GMs). I do agree with most that any assets the Flames may move would be for a centre or defensive depth, but Feaster would be crazy not to call on this guy.

I assume there was conversation on both sides and the Flames were holding off because they are looking to move Cammy but have no takers. Cammy out, I see Raymond in. |

Yeah, I would think there would have had to be convo on each side. I agree, something else would have to happen to make room for him. |

Why don't the Flames go after RFA's like Henrique from NJ or Hodgson from Buffalo? Would these guys command too much money and therefore cost the Flames too much in compensatory draft picks? |

What would you want for Stastny? We would want D help, but I dont think you guys would give up Gio or a young guy like Brodie in a deal.
A Stastny for Cammy deal could just be a pure hockey trade helping out fill eachothers top 6 needs |

If they trade Cammi more than likely a contract is coming back in. A top 6 center is a pipe dream and the flames have enough 5-6 d-men as is.
Flames don't even have a space for Horak right now and i think he deserves a spot.

I believe that if the flames offer anything more than $3.3 million in an offer sheet then a 1st and 3rd has to go back. Flames can't afford that. Anything less than $3.3 million and the other team gets a 2nd round pick. The other team will match in that case. |

I mentioned in previous blogs that I would love for the Flames to go after Henrique or Stepan...but would be hard pressed to believe that Uncle Lou wouldnt fight to keep Henrique and same could be said about Stepan. |

Compensation for losing a restricted free agent is on a sliding scale, depending on how much the new contract is worth. The exact numbers change every year.
The most a team can lose for signing an RFA is four first-round draft picks.
For 2011, a team signing a restricted free agent to a contract worth more than $7,835,219 per season loses four first-round picks to the player's old team.
For a contract worth $6,268,176 or more per year, the acquiring team gives up two first-round picks, one second rounder, and one third.
There are another four levels of compensation, going down to a contract worth up to $1,034,249 per year, for which there is no compensation.
